Job Description

CEEW seeks to hire a for a role to support the Director of Programmes (DoP). CEEW offers an intellectually challenging and conducive work environment with a focus on research rigour, innovative thinking, and strategic outreach. We are looking for an articulate “go-getter” who is detail-oriented and keen to learn the ropes of research in a public policy setting. The successful applicant will be instrumental in managing the DoP’s professional life — in keeping with the institution’s overall research vision and priorities. They must be ambitious to excel in all aspects of the role, strive to become a communicator of CEEW’s research, be able to discern new opportunities for research expansion over time, and eventually move on to a research role in his/her chosen area of aptitude/expertise.

Job Responsibilities

The successful candidate is expected to assist the Director of Programmes with the following:

  • Systematically track business and technology-related developments in energy, industry, the environment, and India's developmental pathways in the context of national priorities and socioeconomic dimensions.
  • Ideate, prepare and curate cutting-edge research briefs, documents, memos, analyses, and talking points to facilitate key external and internal communications in consultation with the sectoral teams.
  • Participate in and elevate the DoP’s engagements with various research teams at CEEW and research collaborators.
  • Stay abreast of CEEW’s research and evolving research priorities by proactively consuming research outputs and dissemination pieces and independent, purposive interfacing with researchers spanning CEEW’s programmatic verticals.
  • Prepare impactful, well-designed, and thoughtfully curated presentations to showcase CEEW's research at various forums, including internal meetings and briefings.
  • Independently manage pre- and post-engagement follow-ups with organisers and attendees in tandem with the program assistants. Internally, ensure follow-up and follow-through of the agreed action items and objectives.
  • Be the DoP’s single point of contact for coordination across internal teams and external parties, and communicate from a place of thorough research, understanding of the context, and professional poise.
  • Manage Google-based email, calendar, and notes systems for the DoP, and intelligent content management.
  • Help drive priority into the various research activities and initiatives of the various teams.
  • Manage small- to medium-sized projects and task forces and participate constructively in team meetings.
  • Manage an archival system for articles and reports written and events attended by the DoP.
  • CEEW operates in a dynamic environment, and the candidate will be required to show flexibility in undertaking a variety of tasks.

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

  • Undergraduate/postgraduate degree in engineering, development studies, economics, political science, public policy, international relations or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in policy analysis or relationship management.
  • Strong understanding of India’s energy transition, policy and regulatory environment.
  • Experience in working with senior leaders or administration will be considered an advantage.
  • Experience with working in the think-tank/non-profit/government organisational space would be preferred.
