About the Organization
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), headed by the Prime Minister of India, is the apex body for Disaster Management in India. Setting up of NDMA and the creation of an enabling environment for institutional mechanisms at the State and District levels is mandated by the Disaster Management Act, 2005. NDMA is mandated to lay down the policies, plans and guidelines for Disaster Management. India envisions the development of an ethos of Prevention, Mitigation, Preparedness and Response.
The Indian government strives to promote a national resolve to mitigate the damage and destruction caused by natural and man-made disasters, through sustained and collective efforts of all Government agencies, Non-Governmental Organizations and People’s participation. This is planned to be accomplished by adopting a Technology-Driven, Pro-Active, Multi-Hazard and Multi-Sectoral strategy for building a Safer, Disaster Resilient and Dynamic India.
Job Description
The Transport Infrastructure Professional (Consultants, Senior Consultants, and Lead Consultants) will provide technical expertise at varying levels of responsibility and experience. They will contribute to the design, planning, and implementation of transport infrastructure recovery plans and the management of transport systems, ensuring the rapid restoration of key transport networks during disaster events.
Job Responsibilities
- Consultants: Assist in the design and planning of transport infrastructure recovery efforts, focusing on the evaluation and repair of damaged roads and transport systems.
- Senior Consultants: Lead the development of comprehensive transport infrastructure plans for disaster recovery, manage teams, and ensure the efficient restoration of transport networks, including the design of sustainable transport solutions.
- Lead Consultants: Oversee the entire transport infrastructure recovery program, provide strategic leadership, and ensure that the recovery efforts are aligned with national disaster management policies and long-term resilience strategies.
Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience
Education:
- Master’s in Civil Engineering, Transport Planning, or related field.
- Certifications: Professional Certification in Infrastructure Development, Transport Engineering, Transport Infrastructure & Engineering, Sustainable Transportation
Experiences:
- Consultant: 3-7 years of experience in infrastructure design, transport systems planning, and road networks management.
- Senior Consultant: 8-12 years of experience, including leadership in transport infrastructure recovery, road network restoration, and sustainable transport systems.
- Lead Consultant: 12+ years of experience in strategic oversight of transport infrastructure recovery programs, including disaster response, road systems, and long-term infrastructure planning.
