Job Description

C-DEP is hiring a Senior Policy Analyst / Consultant with hands-on experience in Quality Control Orders (QCOs), Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) regulations, and India’s quality ecosystem.

The role involves research, drafting, and policy engagement on standards and certification frameworks that affect trade and industry. The candidate should be able to independently track regulatory developments, analyse their impact, and contribute to the preparation of policy briefs, strategy papers, and advocacy materials.

Job Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-depth research and analysis on QCOs, BIS licensing, and related regulatory frameworks.
  • Track and interpret policy developments in quality standards and their implications for industry and trade.
  • Draft policy briefs, background notes, and representations on QCO and BIS-related issues.
  • Support engagement with ministries, regulators, and standards-setting bodies through evidence-backed analysis.
  • Assist in preparing strategy documents, advocacy on quality regulation and trade remedies.
  • Maintain a database of regulatory changes, notifications, and stakeholder positions on QCO/BIS matters.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to provide timely inputs on standards and certification- related policy matters.
  • Participate in industry consultations, workshops, and forums relevant to India’s quality ecosystem.
  • Provide analytical support for broader trade policy, industrial policy, and trade remedies initiatives.

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

  • Master’s degree in Public Policy, Economics, International Trade, Law, or related field (preferred).
  • 3–5 years of relevant work experience in public policy, regulatory affairs, standards, or trade policy is a MUST.
  • Prior experience with QCOs, BIS licensing/certification, and India’s quality standards ecosystem is a MUST.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret regulatory frameworks and translate them into actionable insights.
  • Excellent drafting and communication skills, with proven ability to prepare policy documents and briefs.
  • Experience engaging with government departments, regulators, or industry bodies desirable.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks independently and deliver quality outputs under tight deadlines.
  • High standards of integrity, discretion, and professionalism.
