About the Organization

National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management (NIFTEM) was conceptualized by Government of India on persistent demand of the food industry to have an apex body as a “One Stop Solution Provider” for the various problems of the sector. Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Government of India has set up this institute with an initial investment of Rs. 500 crore (US $100 million).

The institute is spread over an area of 100 acres. The institute intends to act as a centre of excellence and an apex world class centre of global standards in the area of food technology and management. It will cater to the needs of various stakeholders such as entrepreneurs, industries, exporters, policy makers, government and existing institutions. NIFTEM being an apex institution under Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) have developed strong linkages with industries.

About the Conference

Government of India celebrates the year 2023 as the International Year of Millets with a view to popularize millets throughout the globe and inspire all stakeholders involved in production, processing, value addition, marketing and distribution. The Asia-Pacific is emerging as a hotspot for activity around millets. There are several challenges that need to be addressed at various points from cultivation to consumption, including but not limited to improving quality of produce, consumer education, streamlining supply, establishing processing and value-addition capabilities, branding, packaging, marketing and distribution etc.

Conference objectives

  • To identify solutions to address the challenges in good quality production, processing, post-harvest management, value addition, storage, marketing and distribution of millet and millet products in India and other millet producing and exporting countries.
  • To develop strategies to achieve nutritional and economic security through millet production, processing, consumption, marketing and export.
  • To disseminate the recent developments in processes, recipes and products, and technologies among the stakeholders, and to encourage entrepreneurship, marketing and business skills.
