About the Organization

Delft University of Technology is a public legal entity in accordance with the Higher Education and Research Act (WHW). The main tasks include providing scientific education, conducting scientific research, transferring knowledge to society and promoting social responsibility. The university has been designated as a ‘public benefit institution’.

There are three administrative levels at TU Delft:  the Executive Board, the faculties, and the academic departments. These three administrative levels are governed based on the principle of integral management: the Executive Board, the deans, and the departmental directors are responsible for both the primary tasks (academic research, education and knowledge transfer) and support services. The support for the primary processes is organised within the University Corporate Office. There are also several employee participation bodies that influence the policy of decision-making within TU Delft.

About the Scholarship

At TU Delft a number of scholarships are available for excellent international applicants. Justus & Louise Van Effen Excellence Scholarships are financed by the legacy of Justus and Louise van Effen. Mr. van Effen studied at TU Delft in the 1940’s and strongly believed technological developments will contribute to solving societal issues.

The Foundation Justus & Louise van Effen was established with the aim of stimulating excellent international MSc students and financially supporting them in their wish to study at TU Delft.

Eligibility

You are an excellent international applicant (conditionally) admitted to one of the 2-year regular TU Delft MSc programmes (not an International Joint Education Programme).

You are not eligible for the Justus & Louise van Effen Excellence Scholarships if:

• You are a TU Delft bachelor’s student (even if you are an international student).
• You are an international student applying for a TU Delft MSc programme who has obtained their bachelor's degree at a Dutch University.
• You have already started your MSc studies at TU Delft (the scholarship is only for new, incoming students).

Students must have achieved excellent academic results in their previous study programme(s), which must be relevant to the Master's programme for which they are applying. As an indication, the student is amongst the top 10% of graduates in his/her previous study programme. Note that proof of ranking is not required – this information is purely to indicate the level of competitiveness.
