Job Description

The Academic Engagement team at Swissnex in India feels passionate about the power of knowledge, and about leveraging this power across borders and disciplines.

We connect scientific communities in India and Switzerland in areas that will define the future. These areas encompass not just biodiversity, climate change and health under the larger umbrella of sustainability, but also digital transformation and future technologies. Our engagement goes beyond researchers and students - we engage with the vocational education training sector and create novel formats for Swiss stakeholders in education, research and innovation to experience other cultures and continents without setting foot into an aeroplane. We take a wide and creative yet strategic approach to do this and are looking to complement the team with someone who shares this notion.

Job Responsibilities

You will join our team to build new approaches to addressing planetary health, equip Swiss VET graduates with a global mindset and support budding Indian researchers in their international experiences. Your job also encompasses developing unique experiences for our Swiss guests, be it for study tours, networking events or other activities. Excellence does not just happen at an individual level, you are expected to exercise your collaborative skills by working closely with the entire Swissnex team, not just the Academic Engagement team.

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

• You are graduating before September 2025 or have graduated within the last 12 months.
• You are either a Swiss citizen or have a valid Permit C.
• You master the English language, and you have impeccable attention to detail.
• You have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in natural sciences/social sciences/engineering or other fields.
• You are curious, eager and comfortable to engage with topics that might not be your core expertise.
• You enjoy working with stakeholders ranging from students to established researchers, and also innovators from the private sector, in industry and startups.
• A plus point would be experience in proposal writing and/or fundraising, including the preparation of pitch decks.

Desirable attributes:

• You have a voracious appetite for knowledge, are comfortable pushing yourself to constantly learn something new—often outside of your comfort zone, are able to stick your neck out with informed opinions when required, and you actively seek out new skills or better ways to do things.
• You are quick to react to emerging demands, proactively engage in projects and pick up different types of work quickly whenever needed.
• You genuinely enjoy working with other people as well as independently, and you like to share a good laugh at the office occasionally.
