Job Description/Responsibilities
We are seeking a detail-oriented professional to oversee the smooth processing of journal manuscripts, from submission to publication. The ideal candidate will coordinate with authors, editors, reviewers, and publishers to ensure efficient submission handling, timely peer review, and adherence to journal guidelines.
- Manage the end-to-end manuscript submission and peer review process, ensuring compliance with ethical and scientific standards.
- Build and maintain a database of authors, editors, and reviewers.
- Communicate with authors via email regarding manuscript status, revisions, and journal policies.
- Coordinate with reviewers to facilitate timely evaluations and address any delays.
- Ensure manuscripts meet formatting, ethical, and quality standards before final acceptance.
- Review the style and layout of proofs against samples and cross-check corrections.
- Maintain accurate records and generate reports on manuscript flow and review timelines.
- Collaborate with the production team to ensure smooth manuscript handover for publication.
- Assist in resolving submission-related queries and improving workflow efficiency.
- Oversee journal indexing and abstracting in reputed databases by ensuring compliance with indexing guidelines.
- Upload journal issues on the website for wider circulation.
- Monitor citation metrics, impact factors, and indexing performance, providing periodic reports to stakeholders.
- Support the implementation of process improvements to enhance workflow efficiency.
Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Library Science, Information Science, Publishing, English, Communications or a related field.
- Minimum two years of experience in similar role.
- Prior experience in journal indexing, academic publishing, or library database management is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of journal indexing processes, impact factors, and scholarly databases.
Skills:
- Excellent written, communication and coordination skills
- Familiarity with manuscript tracking systems (e.g., ScholarOne, Editorial Manager).
- Familiarity with journal submission platforms, metadata standards, and research assessment metrics.
- Proficiency in MS Office, database management tools, and referencing software.
- Knowledge of publication ethics and editorial policies is an advantage.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills with attention to detail.
