Job Description/Responsibilities

In this role you will deliver globally-recognized, practical subject matter expertise to the Jhpiego India country team and partners, to support project design, and the execution of key deliverables ensuring we are bringing the best of Jhpiego. To do so, you will need to engage collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders both internal and external, bring in bold solutions from our growing body of thought leadership, and draw on evolving partnerships that enable us to support the practical implementation of the solutions we propose.

Broadly, you will assist and develop a strategy for digital health for Jhpiego India programs and focus on providing technological and advanced data science solutions. You will be expected to engage in all phases of Jhpiego programs:

  • Preparation
  • Implementation
  • Development of Integrated Platform
  • Agile Develop and Test Analytical Model for New Data Sets
  • Timely and effective integration of IoT enabled devices and need-based reiteration
  • End of Project – Documentation, Handover, Reporting

You will remain responsible for technical integrity of all digital health solutions and play a key role in establishing Jphiego as a leader in the ethical deployment of AI. 

Build strategic relationships (20%)

  • Identify strategic relationships with government, donors, social development sector partners and private organisations to advance Jhpiego’s Digital Health priorities.
  • Deepen the understanding and appreciation of Jhpiegos core approach to medical devices and diagnostics among a growing group of diverse multilateral prospects and funders.
  • Engage collaboratively with other advisory colleagues and with our global Policy and Strategy & Partnerships to bring in bold solutions from our growing body of thought leadership.
  • Draw on evolving partnerships which enable us to support practical implementation of the solutions we propose.
  • Generate new strategic partnerships with bilateral and multilateral organizations that are engaged in digital health and AI agendas.

Strategy and execution (50%)

  • Deliver globally-recognised, practical subject matter expertise to Jhpiego country teams and partners, which supports new project design, and key deliverables ensuring we are bringing the best of Jhpiego.
  • Besides the singular focus on AI, support wider Organizational priorities and initiatives in the health space by feeding in practical recommendations and experience to our wider body of digital health work.
  • Develop and execute strategies and action plans to identify relevant digital health solutions including devices diagnostics, care delivery models and data platforms.
  • Collaborate with Jhpiego leadership to conduct a comprehensive landscape analysis of AI applications in global health.
  • Identify key challenges in Jhpiego's core areas of focus, such as maternal health, newborn health, and family planning, that can be addressed through AI and digital health solutions.
  • Lead the development of a strategic roadmap for Jhpiego's use of AI, prioritizing initiatives based on potential impact, feasibility, and alignment with Jhpiego's mission.
  • Proven ability to evaluate effectiveness of and work with various data use and operational solutions and assist with identifying and evaluating technology solutions related to primary health.
  • Stay abreast of emerging trends in digital health research and development, evaluating their potential application to improve Jhpiego's programs and services.
  • Support the implementation and operationalization of digital health solutions within programs, involving multiple partners, financial elements, coordination across internal teams among others.
  • Have strong working knowledge of National frameworks of digital health, including accreditation and approval for AI.
  • Contribute to research around effective choice, implementation, capacity building, maintenance and funding of digital health and AI.
  • Communications & Capacity Building (30%)
  • Create value propositions for prospects and champions that are grounded in our core mission.
  • Conceptualize and draft external and internal communications including creating learning packages and execution of the same, strategically plan high visibility events to further Jhpiegos visibility in Digital Health.
  • Contribute to overall strategy and direction of the Digital Innovations Unit (DIU)
  • Identify new strategies and pathways for strengthening the DIU’s overall positioning, and advocacy efforts.
  • Monitor bilateral and multilateral trends and initiatives with foresight, to help position Jhpiego for strategic opportunities.

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum of 15+ years of related professional experience with deep knowledge of the health-technology ecosystem
  • Qualifications : MBBS / BTech is a must, MD / MTech preferred, with experience working in public health esp. in relation with national programs is preferred
  • English fluency required. Fluency in other languages is a plus.
  • Strong external presence and comfortable representing the organization externally
  • Strong understanding of the AI for healthcare landscape esp. within the constraints of public healthcare.
  • Strong knowledge of public health programs and eHealth/mHealth applications or health information systems for these programs.
  • Experience in creating a learning resource
