About the Organization
India Health Action Trust (IHAT) was instituted in 2003 as a Charitable Trust with a vision to meaningfully impact the lives of vulnerable and marginalised people by addressing health and social inequities. IHAT is working towards reducing inequities by developing comprehensive and sustainable programmes to improve population health. Since its inception, IHAT has working closely with the Government of India and state governments, including Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi and Bihar to achieve public health goals. Our work is focused in the areas of prevention and control of HIV and Tuberculosis, in achieving significant improvements in Reproductive, Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health, improved Nutrition among mothers and children, and strengthening health systems. We use programme science to optimise and scale public health programmes while partnering with the governments and communities.
Job Description
Under the guidance of Specialist M&E, MP and the senior management team of Madhya Pradesh, the M&E Associate will support state and district program teams by analyzing data from primary and secondary reporting platforms, validating data, and conducting strategic analyses to enhance program delivery and research outcomes. This role involves advanced analysis of various data types, including community and facility-based surveys, program monitoring, and government data. The associate will employ statistical modelling and geo-spatial analysis to assess the impact of program activities on results. Additionally, the M&E Associate will provide insights to program teams, research teams, resource mobilization units, and government advocacy and partnerships teams. Key focus areas include Reproductive, Maternal, New-born, Child, and Adolescent Health (RMNCHA), Tuberculosis (TB) and Infectious Diseases, Comprehensive Primary Care, Non-Communicable Disease control programs, and Health Systems strengthening. The position requires travel within and outside the state.
Job Responsibilities
Data Analysis
- Regularly conduct detailed analysis to address the identified strategic questions and to generate key programmatic insights using primary data (internal concurrent monitoring survey, program monitoring data and government data (HMIS, RCH ANMOL and other relevant reporting portals) and secondary data sources (NFHS, AHS, DLHS, SRS etc.)
Data Validation:
- Conduct monthly data quality analyses to ensure the accuracy of routine program monitoring data.
- Strategic Analysis:
- Generate key programmatic insights through strategic analysis that helps programs to strengthen service delivery in RMNCHN, TB/IDs, NCDs, CPHC and program opportunities. Perform specific analyses for programs like Aspirational or Demonstration districts to guide program strategies.
- Conduct statistical modelling and geo-spatial analysis to understand the effect of program activities on result.
Reporting
- Prepare monthly factsheets or dashboards for quick updates and data reference. Support the process of peer-reviewed scientific writing and other types of publications.
- Survey Support
- Assist in designing and conducting surveys, including sampling, data collection, and preparation of related tools and guidelines.
- Conduct advance analysis of different types of data such as community and facility based survey, program monitoring and government data.
Technical Assistance:
- Provide technical support to state M&E teams in conducting surveys, operational research, and evaluation studies. Develop Technical notes and infographics form evidence generated through program based research.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with program teams to identify gaps and strengthen program interventions. Also work to support and provide insights to program teams, research teams, resource mobilization units, and government advocacy and partnerships teams.
- Any other requirements as suggested by the line manager.
Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience
Work Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in the monitoring and evaluation of health and/or public health programs.
- Experience in working with government data systems such as HMIS/MCTS, RCH, etc.
Education:
- Post-graduate degree in Statistics/Demography/Economics/public health
