Karuna-Shechen India is a non-profit organization committed to creating an altruistic world by serving the most vulnerable populations. We focus on Health, Education, Environment, Food Security, and Economic Development, reaching remote communities in Bihar, Jharkhand, and Darjeeling in West Bengal. In partnership with the SRPC Trust and with the support of the Azim Premji Foundation, we are launching a health project in the Darjeeling district.

Position Overview
The Consultant, Public Health will lead the design, implementation, and evaluation of health programs with a focus on Maternal and Child Health (MCH) and Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs). The role demands strategic planning, stakeholder collaboration, and capacity building to deliver high-quality health services and sustainable outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
1. Program Design and Strategy
- Develop and execute evidence-based strategies to enhance health outcomes in MCH and NCD programs.
- Conduct needs assessments and feasibility studies to identify gaps in service delivery.
- Incorporate innovative approaches and best practices into program frameworks.
- Maintain effective coordination with stakeholders, including government bodies and community organizations.
2. Capacity Building of Team Members
- Design and deliver training programs for field staff and stakeholders to enhance their expertise in MCH and NCDs.
- Facilitate workshops, mentoring, and continuous learning opportunities to build technical capacity and programmatic excellence.
- Monitor the impact of capacity-building initiatives and adapt strategies to address gaps effectively.
3. Program Implementation
- Lead planning and implementation of MCH and NCD initiatives in alignment with organizational objectives.
- Organize and oversee capacity-building initiatives for field teams to improve program delivery.
- Ensure adherence to quality standards, timelines, and budgets in all program activities.
4. Stakeholder Engagement
- Build and strengthen partnerships with government agencies, donors, and implementing partners.
- Advocate for MCH and NCD priorities at national and international platforms.
- Foster collaboration with local organizations to extend the reach and effectiveness of health programs.
5. Resource Mobilization
- Contribute to proposal development and donor reporting to secure funding for health programs.
- Optimize resource allocation to ensure alignment with donor requirements and project goals.
Qualifications and Experience
- Master’s degree in Public Health.
- At least 5 years of experience in managing health programs, particularly in MCH and NCDs.
- Proven expertise in program design, implementation, and evaluation.
- Familiarity with government health policies, particularly in MCH and NCD domains.
- Experience managing donor-funded projects and collaborating with diverse stakeholders.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis tools.
- Excellent project management abilities, with multitasking and prioritization skills.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Effective leadership to inspire and manage teams in dynamic environments.
- Cultural sensitivity and the ability to work in diverse, multi-stakeholder settings.
Preferred Attributes
- Experience in digital health interventions or innovative health delivery models.
- Proficiency in local languages (e.g., Nepali) and familiarity with regional health dynamics.
