Job Description

The Project Officer is primarily responsible for operationalizing Project/Program activities in the assigned project areas. S/He is responsible for coordinating, facilitating, and providing necessary support to the Coordinator-community in program expansion within the landscape and scaling up various initiatives. S/he is also responsible for upholding organizational core values, program management, and achieving results in a defined geographical area of WITL.

Job Responsibilities

Programme Development & Implementation:

  • Work with local communities involved in community-based biodiversity conservation through to enhance incomes and improve livelihood opportunities and provide leadership for the project's rollout and effective implementation of the Community-based conservation model.
  • Design and implement demand-driven Village Conservation and Development Plans (VCDPs) using Participatory approaches.
  • Feasibility of the proposed community-based conservation and additional livelihood interventions for the local community.
  • Strengthening of the village level institutions such as SHGs, Eco Development committees, Kulhadi Band Panchayat etc.
  • Prepare the Business Development Plan (BDP) for Community Institution members.
  • Develop studies and mitigation measures to prevent or reduce human-wildlife conflict in terms of crop-raiding.
  • Work closely with all team members to design and undertake studies/ analysis/ documentation towards analysing the impact (especially in quantitative terms) of WWF-India's work in WITL, mainly with communities.
  • Contribute and support the development of the project's work plan, implementation plan & budget with insights from the field.

Networking & Advocacy:

  • Coordinates with Administrative officials e.g. DC, Forest Department, DD Agriculture, Fishery, KVK, Animal Husbandry, Zila Panchayat (PRI), and other departments. Stakeholders for smooth implementation of WWF India program activities and elicit requisite support.
  • Share information, data, and issues that need advocacy efforts at district and state levels with the Team Leader and program team.
  • Play a critical role in establishing and strengthening the project's networking with various government departments, NGOs, and other resource agencies at the district level.
  • Assist the Coordinator-communities in identifying areas for convergence with district-level agencies for benefitting project activities and improving visibility.

Reporting:

  • Support the implementation of the program management information system and ensure regular and quality data collection and reporting.
  • Support in implementing various monitoring, learning, knowledge-gathering efforts in the program with the help of the Senior Project Officer.
  • Support the Senior Project Officer/Coordinator-communities in effective periodical reporting on the progress of the program.
  • Ensure submission of progress reports on a regular and timely basis and updates to the coordinator communities on progress and problems encountered infield-level implementation.

 Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

  • M.A. MSW or M.Sc. in Social Science/ Social work or related subject from a reputed University in India or abroad.
  • Work experience on social issues in a conservation landscape.
  • 2-3 years of experience in conservation-focused community projects or initiatives.
