Job Description/Responsibilities

The Quality Management System Specialist will work closely with the senior management, Team Lead/Project Manager/Sr. Microbiologist and project team, as well as the State officials and other stakeholders. The specific activities & responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

• Assist Team Lead/Senior Manager in developing a strategy for implementing Quality Management System in labs of Bihar.
• Technically support activities related to implementation of Quality Management System based on ISO 15189 and establishing External Quality Assurance Scheme /Patient program at the labs under NHM.
• Provide technical support and mentoring to the identified labs for planning and developing Quality Management System towards IPHL guidelines and NABL accreditation and maintaining NABL accreditation where already achieved.
• Coordinate to organize and act as a trainer for various trainings, on site visits and for similar capacity development activities required for developing Quality Management System, in Government medical colleges.
• Develop and participate in the assessment and audit related activities for the Labs identified under the project at government health facilities(all tier).
• Carryout improvement activities/ projects along with the site Incharge and follow up on planned activities from the perspective of quality improvement and accreditation activities.
• Support sites/labs in trouble shooting quality related issues.
• Support in developing case studies for the labs/sites which will enable cross learning for other labs/sites.
• Identify implementation and operational challenges in the field and communicate to reporting lines and relevant stakeholder.
• Support development and review of documentation pertaining to the project including SOPs, job aids, reports, communications, publications, checklists, reporting documents to funding agency and any other.
• Coordination with State/district officials/medical college/external consultant, and other stakeholders for implementation of assigned tasks.
• Ensuring that the project activities are conducted as per the work plan.
• Contribute as a district/ state level facilitator for various lab related trainings as required
• Support or provide assistance to team in laboratories assessment visits. Compilation and analysis of data related to various project activities and support the preparation of the periodic reports.

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

• MBBS/MD(Microbiology/Medical Microbiology)/PhD in Microbiology with minimum 05 years of experience in Quality Management System/ M.Sc in Microbiology/Biochemistry with minimum 07 years of experience in laboratory medicine and Quality Management System.
• Should have degree/diploma/ certificate course of Quality Management System.
• Experience managing and performing audits.
• Should have experience in performing various Quality Management System operation.
• Strong scientific background in Quality Control, Quality Assurance, Quality Improvement and other Quality Management System related activities.
• Well familiar with health management systems and Quality Management System in India.
• Good coordination skills.
• Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
• Strong team orientation.
• Ability to work independently, with minimum handholding and supervision.
• Energetic, resilient, and passionate.
• Good computer knowledge (MS Office- Excel and Word).
• Willingness to travel if required and at short notice.
