ICRW undertakes research and programs that are focused, evidence-based, and action-oriented; provides technical assistance to partner organizations, donors, and governments; and advocates for new or improved policies, programs, and technical assistance to partner organizations, donors, and governments.

Job Description

The Research & Program Associate will provide technical and administrative support to research and program activities for assigned project/s. To begin with the incumbent would be involved in literature review, desk research and qualitative research on multiple thematic areas.

Job Responsibilities

Technical and research support:

  • Conduct literature searches and reviews, including scanning programs, case studies, best practices, and data related to specific themes.
  • Compile comprehensive reports along with bibliographies and assist in resource material compilation for project content development.
  • Support basic research planning under the guidance of a supervisor and assist in the development of research tools.
  • Liase with government departments and local CSOs to create a eco system for collaborative work.
  • Ensure adherence to Institutional Review Board (IRB) guidelines, research ethics, and child safeguarding protocols.
  • Coordinate and participate in field data collection, tabulation, data management, and analysis (quantitative and qualitative).
  • Contribute to research analysis and report writing.
  • Format, edit, and revise papers, presentations, proposals, questionnaires, and other documents such as scope of work for consultants.
  • Assist in preparing progress reports and contribute to content development related to program implementation.
  • Assisting with the management of work plans, taking and sharing meeting notes, and coordinating project timelines.
  • Maintaining the project database and folders, including compiling project resource materials.
  • Supporting project communication and coordination, as directed.

Administrative support:

  • Assists in the preparation and coordination of meetings, events, trainings, and workshops
  • Assists in knowledge management by maintaining printed resource materials, sharing information on new publications, and updating team files and databases.
  • Any other task as may be allotted from time to time by the Supervisor/Executive Director.

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelors / Masters in a relevant field (Sociology, Social Work or any other related field) with a research background. Familiarity with research work in Women and Gender issues.
  • Experience: Two to four years of relevant experience, with an understanding of project management, implementation, and research coordination. Experience in process documentation of participatory methods and in documenting research processes and findings is an asset.

Skills:

  • Must possess excellent writing, communication, and analytical skills, along with strong organizational abilities and the capacity to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Computer literacy is required, including proficiency in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) and internet applications, including online database tools.
  • Strong research skills, with demonstrated proficiency in one or more statistical software packages such as SPSS, STATA, or ATLAS, as well as familiarity with widely-used research frameworks (e.g., ARRM, HBM), would be an asset.
  • Must be a team player with the ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in qualitative and quantitative research data analysis software is a plus.
  • Experience in planning and implementing monitoring and evaluation (M&E) activities for individual projects or project portfolios is preferred.
