Role Overview 

The Senior Project Coordinator – Certification will be responsible for managing organic  certification processes, ensuring compliance with national and international standards (e.g., NPOP,  NOP, PGS, EU). This role involves coordination with farmers, field teams, and certification bodies,  overseeing audits, inspections, and renewals. The ideal candidate will also develop training  programs, support ICS (Internal Control System) management, conduct internal audits, and  contribute to sustainable agricultural practices. 

Key Responsibilities 

Certification & Compliance Management

• Oversee the organic certification process, ensuring strict adherence to national and  international standards. 
• Maintain documentation and records for certification audits and inspections. o Ensure compliance with all relevant organic standards, including NPOP, NOP, PGS,  and EU regulations. 

Audit & Internal Control System (ICS) Management 

• Conduct internal audits and manage non-conformity (NC) closures in coordination  with Certification Bodies (CB). 
• Implement and oversee the Internal Control System (ICS) for organic certification.
• Manage traceability and documentation for certification approvals. 

 

Training & Capacity Building 

• Develop and implement training programs for farmers and field staff on organic  practices, certification requirements, and compliance protocols. 
• Conduct regular field visits to ensure adherence to organic standards and provide  actionable feedback. 
• Utilize Tracenet or similar certification management tools effectively. 

Stakeholder Coordination & Engagement 

• Collaborate with farmers, internal teams, government agencies, NGOs, and external  partners to streamline certification processes. 
• Engage with external auditors and regulatory bodies to ensure seamless compliance.
• Foster cultural sensitivity and awareness, ensuring the project aligns with local  customs and values. 

 

Field Operations & Monitoring 

• Conduct field visits to verify compliance with organic standards and monitor  agricultural practices. 
• Provide technical support to farmers and teams for effective organic farming  implementation.

Qualifications & Skills 

• Education: B.Sc. in Agriculture, Rural Development, Social Work, or similar fields. A  postgraduate degree in Agribusiness is preferred. 
• Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of organic farming, certification standards  (NPOP, NOP, PGS, EU), and experience with audit documentation. 
• Project Coordination Experience: Proven track record in certification management and  coordination for large-scale projects. 
• Communication & Engagement: Excellent communication skills to effectively liaise with  internal teams, farmers, and external stakeholders. 
• NGO Cultural Fit: Strong adaptability to NGO work culture, particularly in agriculture and  rural development sectors. 
• Travel: Willingness to travel to project sites as required. 
• Local Residency: Candidate must be a local resident of Kolkata, West Bengal.

Additional Information 

• Travel: Willingness to travel as required to various project sites. 
• Compensation: Up to 3 Lacs per annum + Annual Variable Pay + Commitment  Bonus (Compensation package will be in line with qualification, experience, and last  salary drawn).
