Job Description
The Head of MEAL is responsible for leading the design and implementation of a robust monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning framework across all Bright Future programs. The role ensures data-driven decision-making, organizational accountability, learning, and continuous program improvement. This is a strategic leadership role requiring strong technical knowledge, field insights, and a participatory, impact-driven approach.
Job Responsibilities
Strategy and System Development
- Design and oversee the implementation of a comprehensive MEAL framework aligned with Bright Future’s vision and program goals.
- Develop and refine key performance indicators (KPIs), outcome metrics, and data management systems to measure impact effectively.
- Ensure the MEAL strategy supports strategic planning, program scale-up, donor reporting, and advocacy efforts.
Monitoring and Evaluation
- Supervise the design of tools and methodologies for baseline, midline, and endline studies.
- Ensure timely collection, analysis, and reporting of qualitative and quantitative data.
- Lead the integration of real-time dashboards, digital tools, and data visualization techniques to track progress.
Accountability and Data Governance
- Develop and strengthen feedback and complaint mechanisms for youth, community members, and stakeholders.
- Promote ethical and secure data collection, storage, and usage aligned with data protection laws.
- Foster a culture of accountability and transparency across the organization.
Learning and Impact
- Facilitate regular program reviews, impact assessments, and reflective learning sessions.
- Translate data insights into strategic recommendations for senior leadership and program teams.
- Promote adaptive programming and continuous learning across functions.
Capacity Building and Team Management
- Build the capacity of internal teams on MEAL principles, tools, and practices.
- Manage and mentor a team of MEAL staff, ensuring quality deliverables and professional growth.
- Collaborate with partner organizations and evaluation agencies where needed.
Donor Reporting and External Engagement
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting to donors, partners, and stakeholders.
- Contribute to proposal writing, particularly in setting outcomes and measurement indicators.
- Represent Bright Future in external learning forums, evaluations, and knowledge networks.
Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience
- Master’s degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Statistics, Public Policy, or related field.
- 12–15 years of experience in monitoring, evaluation, and learning in the development/nonprofit sector.
- Demonstrated experience in impact measurement, theory of change, and evaluation designs (RCTs, quasi-experimental, qualitative methods).
- Proficiency in data tools (Excel, Power BI, SPSS/STATA/R, KoboToolbox, etc.).
- Experience in managing teams and leading organizational change.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and facilitation skills.
