Job Description

The Senior Manager – Research will lead the research vertical of GESH, driving impactful, interdisciplinary, and translational work in green energy and sustainability.

The role focuses on generating measurable impact through research by conducting needs assessments, mobilizing research funding, identifying projects, overseeing project management, enabling translational efforts, strengthening industry–academia collaborations, ensuring robust project governance and identifying and supporting research with startup potential.

This is a senior leadership position suited for candidates with deep research management experience and the ability to operate effectively at the interface of academia and industry.

Job Responsibilities

• Develop and refine the research strategy for GESH and identify high-impact research priorities.
• Conduct needs assessments and create roadmaps for breakthrough, applied, and translational research.
• Mobilize research funding through government, industry, CSR, philanthropy, and international agencies.
• Lead proposal development, budgeting, and efficient utilization of research funds.
• Drive translational research, including prototyping, piloting, field deployment, and TRL advancement.
• Build and manage industry consortiums and facilitate collaborative research with industry partners.
• Oversee the full lifecycle of funded projects, including evaluation, monitoring, and governance through expert committees.
• Ensure impactful research outcomes such as patents, prototypes, pilots, policy inputs, commercialization, and startup pathways.
• Create and maintain institutional research repository capturing outputs, data, publications, and technologies in sustainability.
• Prepare white papers, technical reports, and impact documents.
• Build strong relationships with faculty, industry leaders, funding agencies, and global partners.
• Build, lead and mentor the research management team and strengthen internal research administration capacity.

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

• Ph.D or Master’s in Engineering, Sustainability, or related field.

Experience:

• 5+ years in R&D management.
• Experience in translational research and project leadership.
• Desirable: Industry–academia program management exposure.

Skills:

• Skilled in proposal writing, budgeting, and stakeholder management.
• Strong grasp of sustainability and energy domains.
• Proven leadership and analytical abilities.
