National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (NIRDPR) is a premier Institute of national and international repute in terms of capacity-building and research in the realm of Rural Development and related aspects.
About the Programme:
Providing rural finance on a large scale can catapult the pace of economic development in the country. Late 19th century concerns with rural unrest and indebtedness in India led to a policy approach involving moneylender regulation and replacement of Money lender finance through provision of institutional credit in various forms.
Introduction of various Govt. sponsored programmes/schemes culminated in substantially reducing poverty. There is also a need to increase high value advances by banks in agriculture areas for the overall rural development and also achieve the Priority Sector Lending (PSL) targets. This will help in gaining momentum for acceleration & percolation of growth in rural areas.
Objectives:
- To enhance the appraisal skills of the field officers/ credit analysts/ rural bankers;
- To have conceptual clarity about the Agriculture & their allied activities, and upliftment of employment and their financial Status;
- To increase in smallholder farmers’ productivity, improvement in the financial wellbeing of the farmers, and expansion of the agricultural production, which in turn will lead to a higher level of food security;
- Initiative on Agri Supply Chain Finance Design and Implementation.
Outcome of the Programme:
At the end of the training programme, the participants will gain adequate knowledge and skills in the area of Agriculture Value chain Financing. They will also become better supervisors of their Financing Value chain in Agriculture. Standard reading material will be supplied to each participant for ready reference.
