Job Description/Responsibilities
Do you want to improve the lives of low- and moderate-income women across Africa through insights from gender analysis? Are you driven to apply analytical techniques to devise women’s economic empowerment strategies? If so, join our GESI team at MSC! Come and engage in projects that enable millions of women to access, use, and benefit from financial and non-financial services.
- Support consulting projects on women’s socio-economic inclusion and empowerment. Expand knowledge base, write concepts, and work on projects related to the care economy and gender-based violence. Compile, analyse, and interpret gender and women’s economic empowerment issues and statistical data through research and prepare high-quality reports.
- Coordinate with various domains and country teams within MSC on gender-related matters and provide strategic and design inputs to ensure that gender issues are appropriately identified and addressed.
- Document and communicate best practices that emerge from MSC’s GESI work and help develop knowledge products, such as sectoral reports, policy briefs, and technical notes for policymakers and practitioners in the gender space.
- Support business development for GESI thematic areas in Asia, South East Asia, Pacific, and Africa.
- Develop and publish knowledge resources by identifying key issues, lessons learned, and best practices in programs and projects undertaken with different clients and in different geographies.
Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience
- Total years of experience: 3-5 years.
- Masters in Gender studies/Developmental Economics, equivalent or other relevant professional qualifications. An academic background in gender studies is preferable.
- Practical experience in gender equality and gender main streaming. Experience in gender programming, including research, project design, implementation, and management. Hands-on experience in women’s economic empowerment, care economy, gender and climate change, and gender digital divide is preferred.
- Familiarity with gender analysis tools and methodologies, quantitative and qualitative research and analysis.
- Understanding of gender-disaggregated data. Experience in compiling, analysing, and interpreting gender and women’s economic empowerment issues and statistical data, thorough research, and preparation of top-quality analyses and reports.
- Experience in research, consulting, and advisory services to clients, especially in Asia, South East Asia, and Africa.
- Demonstrated experience working with larger teams is required.
