About the Organization
The National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM) was constituted under an Act of Parliament with a vision to play the role of a premier institute for capacity development in India and the region. The efforts in this direction that began with the formation of the National Centre for Disaster Management (NCDM) in 1995 gained impetus with its redesignation as the National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM) for training and capacity development. Under the Disaster Management Act 2005, NIDM has been assigned nodal responsibilities for human resource development, capacity building, training, research, documentation and policy advocacy in the field of disaster management.
Job Responsibilities
- Assist in updating subject-specific Health Adaptation/Action Plans (HAP) on climate change-induced Extreme Weather Events & related disasters, including developing actionable points, assessment tools, and funding sources.
- Participate in the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and advisories/guidelines related to the implementation of HAP, focusing on health facility resilience and multi-hazard action plans.
- Collaborate with State/UTs and Districts to support the development of relevant chapters in their State Action Plans on Climate Change and Human Health (SAPCCHH) and District Action Plans on Climate Change and Human Health (DAPCCHH).
- Assist in updating training modules for healthcare professionals and communities, ensuring integration of latest knowledge and evidence.
- Conduct synthesis of evidence on acute and long-term health impacts of extreme weather events, with a focus on urban-rural specific challenges in India.
- Participate in monitoring and evaluation activities of NPCCHH, including field visits to States for assessing programme implementation including travel to states. To create a baseline and end line database with the help of questionnaire(s).
- Engage in scientific writing and documentation, including drafting best practice documents, articles, case studies, and peer-reviewed publications documenting
- NPCCHH activities and a background of review papers.
- Assist in Coordination and collaboration with various central ministries, government departments and international stakeholders for project related activities.
- Any other tasks assigned by the Executive Director, NIDM/Project Director related to NPCCHH project.
Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience
- Masters Degree with 55% marks in Public Health /Medical/ Preventive and social medicine/ Environmental / Occupational Health / Disaster Management or allied subjects with at least 65% marks in Masters Degree with consistent good academic record.
- At least 5 Years work experience in area of Natural Resource Management/ Climate Change/ Health Resilience or Disaster Risk Reduction.
- Advanced computer skills with proficiency in Qualitative and Quantitative analysis applications like SPSS, Stata, Remote Sensing, GIS, Windows and Microsoft office.
- Languages: Fluency in spoken and written English and Hindi.
Desirable Qualifications/ Experience
- Experience of working on Adaptation plan, training module development and providing training in the field of Health Resilience or DRR is an added advantage.
- Ph.D. completed or enrolled in the concerned or allied disciplines.
- Knowledge of Global Health and Safety Emergency Response Frameworks and national scenarios.
- Contribution to research in form of publications, design of new curricula and courses, developing training modules, and technology –mediated teaching learning process.
- Experience of working with Government Institutes, offices and SDMAs.
- Publication(s) in the relevant area.

Rs.1,00,000/-permonth
