Tata Institute of Social Sciences is a multi-campus public university in Mumbai, India. It is Asia's oldest institute for professional social work education and was founded in 1936 in the then Bombay Presidency of British India as the Sir Dorabji Tata Graduate School of Social Work by the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust.

Job Description

The Research/Data officer position will work under the technical supervision of a research associate and Manager/s leading the research studies at Saksham Pramaan, Tata Institute of Social Sciences.

The Research/Data Officer will:

  • Study the quantitative and qualitative tools, suggest changes, refine the tools to make
  • them user-friendly, and prepare APP-based forms for collecting data
  • Coordinate and follow up with all the stakeholders and participants for data collection across all the data collection sites
  • Develop a plan for data collection with the guidance of research associate and the study manager
  • Organize the training for the consultants at the state/district level
  • Monitor overall fieldwork and data collection process
  • Travel across different states for data collection.
  • Assist in primary (quantitative) data collection, collation and cleaning
  • Follow up for secondary data across all the data collection sites
  • Overlook the data management including transcription, translation processes
  • Carry out secondary data analysis using NACO data
  • Undertake qualitative as well as quantitative data analysis
  • Assist in report writing
  • Support other Saksham Pramaan work as needed/requested by the Programme Team

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

  • Postgraduate degree in Social Sciences/Social Work/Population Studies/Public Health and allied fields.

Experience:

  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in research projects, in the field of HIV/AIDS is desirable. Preference will be given to the candidates having experience of working with High Risk Groups (HRG) population,ICTC and ART Centres. Conversant in local language in addition to English. Well-versed in reporting and documentation. The candidate should have the necessary research skills of quantitative and qualitative data collection, data management, and analysis. She/he shall have experience in conducting FGDs/IDIs with HRGs and Bridge population. The candidate should be sensitive towards issues relating to HRG communities and PLHIVs.

  • Quantitative and Qualitative data collection skills and knowledge
  • Willingness to travel
  • Knowledge of National AIDS Control Programme and programmatic evaluations (Desirable)
