Job Title: Inclusive Support Facilitator (Early Intervention, Resource Centre and Vocational Unit)
Location: Seth Piramal Senior Secondary School Bagar
Nature of Appointment: Full‑time, Contract
Working Days: 6 days per week (Monday to Saturday)
Role Purpose
The Inclusive Support Facilitator will support Children With Special Needs (CWSN) across the Early Intervention, Resource Centre and Vocational Unit, ensuring safe participation, meaningful engagement and holistic development through art, dance, music, sports and vocational activities. The role combines classroom‑based support, co‑curricular facilitation and basic therapeutic/skill‑building assistance under the guidance of special educators and therapists.
Key Responsibilities
- Support CWSN during early intervention and resource room sessions (communication, social skills, motor skills, self‑help, behaviour), as planned by special educators/therapists.
- Assist in inclusive classroom activities and school routines (arrival, transitions, snack, outdoor play, co‑curricular periods) to ensure safety, participation and positive peer interaction.
- Facilitate or assist in art, dance, music and sports activities, adapting tasks and materials as per the abilities and needs of CWSN.
- Provide support in vocational training activities (e.g., crafts, basic production tasks, life skills, pre‑vocational tasks), under the guidance of the vocational trainer/special educator.
- Help CWSN with personal care and self‑help needs where required (mobility, toileting, dressing, eating/drinking) in a dignified and respectful manner, following safety and hygiene norms.
- Prepare and maintain activity spaces in the Early Intervention room, Resource Centre and Vocational Unit (arranging materials, ensuring cleanliness, basic record‑keeping of resources).
- Assist in the use of teaching‑learning and therapy materials (toys, visual aids, communication boards, adapted equipment) as instructed by the special educator/therapist.
- Encourage positive behaviour, engagement and confidence among CWSN through patient, supportive interaction and consistent routines.
- Accompany CWSN during school events, exposure visits, sports day, cultural programmes and vocational exhibitions/fairs, ensuring safety and inclusion.
- Maintain cordial communication with class teachers, special educators, therapists and parents as directed by the school leadership.
- Attend orientation and training sessions related to disability awareness, inclusive education and vocational skills organised by the school or external agencies.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum educational qualification: Graduation in any discipline; candidates with certification/diploma in special education, rehabilitation, arts, sports or vocational skills will be given preference.
- Basic awareness of different disabilities (intellectual disability, autism, cerebral palsy, hearing/visual impairment, learning disabilities, multiple disabilities) and willingness to learn more.
- Demonstrated skill or strong interest in at least one of the following: art, dance, music, sports, theatre or vocational crafts/skills.
- Ability to work patiently with children, follow instructions from special educators/teachers, and maintain a positive, respectful attitude at all times.
- Physical ability to support children in movement and daily routines, and to manage active classroom and activity environments.
- Basic record‑keeping and organisation skills (e.g., maintaining simple registers for materials, attendance, or activity notes).
Reporting and Supervision
- Reports to: Special Educator/Inclusion Coordinator and School Principal.
- Works in close coordination with: Class teachers, therapists, vocational trainer and other support staff.
Working Conditions
- Full‑time role based within school premises (Early Intervention room, Resource Centre, Vocational Unit, classrooms and playground).
- Six working days per week; additional hours during special events may be required, with compensatory arrangements as per school policy.
Key Skills and Competencies
- Patience, empathy and respect for children with diverse needs.
- Basic communication skills in Hindi; ability to follow teacher instructions and communicate with parents when required.
- Physical ability to assist with lifting/transfers and to be active throughout the school day (with reasonable accommodations as needed).
- Commitment to inclusive education, child protection and confidentiality.
