The nursing consultants will be responsible for working closely with state PF RMLE team and conduct structured data collection in labour rooms and SNCUs across all district hospitals, and below district level facilities (SDHs, CHCs and PHCs). These nurse consultants will collect data through direct observation of delivers, SNCU clinical practices and facility information from records to generate high-resolution data on intrapartum care from admission to delivery, clinical protocols followed, observation of newborn care in SNCUs and interview of pregnant women on antenatal care. This role will be responsible for but not limited to the following:
This role will be responsible for but not limited to the following:
- Liaison with District and Hospital administration staff for the smooth functioning of program
- Perform passive observation of delivery and SNCU processes to assess adherence to clinical guidelines.
- Using Android tablet and capture the critical data on delivery practices, including hand hygiene, vital signs assessment, neonatal care, infection control and management of complications.
- Monitor and document 2-3 deliveries and sick newborn care practices per day in the assigned facilities during the data collection period ensuring comprehensive oversight and quality improved data.
- Also collect information regards FIS, facility infrastructure, Blood bank, Labor room, OT HR information and drug supply chain information.
Desirable Qualification & Experience
- Essential:
- BSc Nursing graduate / GNM / MSc Nursing with relevant work experience in clinics.
- Preferred:
- Strong understanding of Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health (MNCH) protocols, with specific clinical knowledge in Labour and SNCU (Special Newborn Care Unit) practices.
- Proficiency in clinical observation and probing techniques.
- Experience in DOD and SNCU clinical observations.
- Experience using digital data collection tools, with the ability to collect data through CAPI (Computer-Assisted Personal Interviewing).
- Excellent communication skills in Odia and local dialects and functional understanding of Hindi and English is also required.
- Understanding on cultural sensitivities of Odisha.
- Preferred only Female Candidate

- Able to communicate in all local and regional languages specific to Odisha state (Odia, Sambalpuri, Cuttucki)
- Travel:
- The candidate must be willing to travel extensively within assigned districts and across various divisions in Odisha as required by the project.
