Handicap International (HI), also known as Humanity & Inclusion Globally, is an independent and impartial aid organization, created in 1982, working across 60 countries. HI works alongside vulnerable populations, whatever the context, taking action to respond to their essential needs, improve their living conditions, and promote respect for their dignity and fundamental rights.

HI, working in India for the last 35 years, addresses a wide range of disability issues in the country. We aim to ensure that people with disabilities are systematically considered in development programs. Our team works in areas of Education, Health, Economic Inclusion, Disaster Risk Reduction & Climate Change Adaptation, Physical & Functional Rehabilitation, Emergency, and reintegrating the most marginalized and vulnerable people of the community back into society

Job Responsibilities

  • Oversee the effective implementation of the project in line with the contract, logical framework, and budget while ensuring compliance with funding body regulations and HI’s global and regional technical standards.
  • Steer the intervention strategy, recommending adjustments as needed, and ensure that activities and resources are well-planned and executed accordingly.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to project partners and team members, ensuring adherence to quality standards in the physical and functional rehabilitation sector.
  • Supervise implementation activities, monitor quality standards, and engage with regional specialists to maintain compliance with global norms.
  • Adapt project documentation as required and contribute to technical learning by analyzing lessons learned and good practices.
  • Monitor project progress by tracking activity indicators and expected outcomes, conducting regular checks on data accuracy, and ensuring alignment with HI’s MEAL/IM frameworks and institutional policies.
  • Support reporting efforts by collecting and analyzing technical data in collaboration with partners and MEAL/IM personnel, while also participating in broader issue analysis.
  • Contribute to knowledge management by collecting essential elements for scientific documentation, leading capitalization efforts, and supporting technical learning initiatives.
  • Facilitate continuous improvement by ensuring project activities align with evolving best practices and sectoral advancements.

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

  • Degree in Physiotherapy
  • A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in Humanitarian/Development project management.
  • Proven ability to work creatively and effectively with local NGOs/INGOs, CSOs, government, donors, and private sector agencies.
  • Demonstrated team leadership, managerial, administrative, and supervisory skills.
  • A strong background in project planning and organizational development.
  • Outstanding networking, advocacy, and partnership-building skills.
  • Well-versed in MS Office (must be in Excel and PowerPoint) and ICT & web-based management systems
  • Team player
  • Technical skill and expertise in the development of policy guidelines
  • Expertise in advocacy and influencing on disability issues.
  • Ability to work independently and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Fluency in English and Hindi. Knowledge of Mizo languages is an advantage.
