Project Background-

Lymphatic Filariasis (LF) and Visceral leishmaniasis (VL) are two serious public health problems on the Indian subcontinent, causing high morbidity and mortality. The governments in the region have launched elimination initiative for both these diseases. The Govt of India (GOI) goal is to eliminate LF and VL, i.e. Reduce annual incidence of the disease to less than threshold levels at the sub district (block) level.

Piramal Foundation, through generous funding from BMGF, is providing strategic leadership and on-ground implementation support to the overall VL and LF elimination program in Bihar and Jharkhand in close partnership with respective departments of State Government and the National Vector Borne Disease Control Program (NVBDCP).

This project aims to contribute to the Government's comprehensive initiative to eliminate Lymphatic Filariasis (LF) and Visceral Leishmaniasis (VL) from the states of Bihar and Jharkhand.

The key strategies for the elimination of lymphatic filariasis (LF) are: Mass Drug Administration (MDA) and Morbidity Management & Disability Prevention (MMDP). The key strategies for Visceral Leishmaniasis (VL) or Kala Azar is Early Case identification & complete treatment and Indoor Residual Spray in all villages reporting any VL cases in last 3 years. 

The strategic goal and primary outcome of the project is to support the Government of Bihar and Government of Jharkhand to attain sustainable elimination of LF and LF in the two states.

Summary-

The SPL/PM - Knowledge Management will be responsible for managing and documenting all activities related to Lymphatic Filariasis (LF) and Visceral Leishmaniasis (VL) under the Communicable Disease Program. This position involves producing essential documents such as technical reports, case studies, monthly updates for donors, and the Annual Project Report, ensuring timely and accurate communication with stakeholders. Additionally, the role includes drafting, editing, and fine-tuning various reports for publication and presentations. The SPL/PM - Knowledge Management will support capacity-building activities, ensuring that the program staff and stakeholders are equipped with the knowledge and resources needed to effectively implement the program. By ensuring that field data is captured, documented, and analyzed systematically, the Knowledge Manager will contribute to enhancing program delivery, improving impact, and ensuring the alignment of the program with its objectives.

Key Responsibilities-

• Prepare annual reports and monthly updates for donors and stakeholders.
• Develop presentations and meeting reports.
• Create case studies, reports, and stories to share program outcomes and learnings.
• Support in writing papers for publication and presentations for external dissemination.
• Conduct situation and case trend analysis to inform strategy development and assess program progress.
• Streamline the internal reporting system for efficient data flow.
• Develop and maintain print and digital communication materials like newsletters, brochures, and social media content.
• Ensure messaging aligns with program goals and resonates with target audiences.
• Track progress and prepare reports to ensure alignment with program objectives.
• Manage media relations, including press kits, press releases, and public statements.
• Use media platforms to amplify awareness campaigns and share success stories.
• Develop communication procedures and policies in consultation with program leadership.
• Travel to districts/blocks as needed (up to 20% -30% of the time).
• Create audio visual posts and blogs for social media and facilitate their publication.
• develop communication materials flyers, banner, etc.,   
• Provide support in other project activities as required.
• Assist with other communication and documentation tasks as directed by the supervisor.
• Coordinate with COE and OPS teams to ensure timely delivery of assigned tasks.

Desirable Qualification & Experience

Essential:

• A Master’s Degree/PG Diploma in Mass Communication, Development, public health or related field.
• At least two years of progressively responsible experience in handling documentation in the social/development field;

Preferred:

• Substantial and diverse experience in all facets of communication and public information;
• Proficiency in MS Office Software package and internet use: knowledge of website management and/or desktop publishing software.
• Experience in production of communication products in Hindi and other Indian languages an asset;
• Overall understanding of Public Health (especially Disease Control Program) will be an added advantage
• Previous experience in Bihar or the Region an asset
