Role Purpose: Oversee the planning and execution of projects to empower tea producer groups and women entrepreneurs. The project is being supported by OAK foundation and implemented by Traidcraft Exchange ( Transform Trade) & Grameen Sahara with technical assistance from the Grassroot Tea Corporation
Hours of Work: Full Time, Flexible
Role Aims:
- To work with about 500 STGs and 1000 rural tea entrepreneurs’ women in 3 districts of Assam
- Manage the planning and implementation of project activities aimed at developing and empowering tea producer groups & women tea entrepreneurs.
- Collaborate with partners to promote regenerative and natural agricultural practices & motivate producer groups to embrace different sustainability standards.
- Formulate strategies to connect tea producers with regional, national and niche global markets, enhancing their access to fair and sustainable trade opportunities
- Support the establishment of enterprise facilitation centers and assist in the development of viable business plans.
- Foster coordination and collaboration across a network of agencies, utilizing their strengths to drive convergence and strengthen the capacity of project participants on specific areas pertaining to marketing and sustainability.
- To carry out other duties, which may or may not be related to the job, as reasonably requested by management.
You will be:
A professional with a proven ability to support rural entrepreneurs and establish and manage community-driven enterprises and related initiatives. He/she should have the skills and relevant experience in managing the tea value chain, particularly with smallholder tea growers (STGs), producer groups, and grassroot women entrepreneurs.
You will have:
- Experience in the tea industry, development of value chains and strong understanding of the market is desirable for the role. Additionally, experience working with small tea growers, private sector partnerships, and a range of stakeholders is an added advantage
- Strong technical & entrepreneurial skills in developing women rural entrepreneurs and setting up and managing community led business models
- Minimum of 8 to 10 years of professional experience in managing similar programs
- Strong interpersonal skills & ability to work & coordinate with different stakeholders & market actors
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with good analytical and numeracy skills
- Willingness to travel extensively.
You may have:
- A graduate (or recognized equivalent) qualification in rural management, agriculture & allied streams, agri-business management, or similar relevant discipline
- Experience in working with large national/international NGOs, private limited companies, trade channel partners or technical bodies
Other:
- Responsibility for day-to-day management and oversight of all aspects of the projects
