Job Description

WJCF is seeking a dedicated and field-driven Block Coordinator to support and monitor malaria elimination activities at the block and PHC level under the Malaria Mukt Gadchiroli Abhiyan, based at the block headquarters in Gadchiroli. The primary objective of this role is to ensure effective implementation of microplans, active surveillance, and community engagement strategies through direct field supervision and coordination with health facilities and frontline workers. The coordinator will be responsible for liaising with PHCs, sub-centres, ASHAs, ANMs, and Malaria Elimination Workers to implement malaria microplans and monitor interventions as per the Action Plan. This role involves monitoring stock availability and distribution of LLINs, diagnostic kits, and treatment drugs, facilitating data entry and validation in IHIP and other digital platforms, and supporting community-level events and Gram Sabha sensitizations. The coordinator will also conduct regular field monitoring, provide weekly feedback to the PMU, and ensure prompt responses to EWARS alerts within designated response times.

Job Responsibilities

  • Liaise with PHCs, sub-centres, ASHAs, ANMs, and Malaria Elimination Workers to implement malaria microplans and support monitoring and implementation of interventions as per the Action Plan.
  • Monitor stock availability, timely distribution of LLINs, diagnostic kits, and treatment drugs across assigned health facilities.
  • Facilitate timely entry and validation of surveillance data in IHIP and other digital platforms.
  • Support the organization of community-level events, Gram Sabha sensitizations, and inter-departmental convergence meetings.
  • Conduct regular field monitoring visits and provide weekly feedback to the PMU on progress, challenges, and recommendations.
  • Ensure that EWARS alerts from the block are acted upon within the designated response time.
  • Coordinate with local health officials and community leaders to strengthen malaria elimination efforts.
  • Provide technical assistance and capacity building support to frontline health workers.

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Social Sciences, or allied field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in field-level program implementation, preferably in public health or malaria control programs.
  • Working knowledge of public health delivery systems, especially in tribal areas.
  • Data literacy and familiarity with digital/mobile reporting platforms is preferred.

Preferred:

  • Experience working with health surveillance platforms (IHIP/DVDMS) is desirable.
  • Previous experience in malaria or vector-borne disease control programs.
  • Strong field supervision and community engagement skills.

Essential Requirements:

  • Deep familiarity with local terrain and community norms in the assigned block or adjacent areas.
  • Fluency in Marathi (speaking and reading) is mandatory.
  • Ability to travel daily within the block and to hard-to-reach villages.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective coordination with diverse stakeholders.
