About the Organization

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), headed by the Prime Minister of India, is the apex body for Disaster Management in India. Setting up of NDMA and the creation of an enabling environment for institutional mechanisms at the State and District levels is mandated by the Disaster Management Act, 2005. NDMA is mandated to lay down the policies, plans and guidelines for Disaster Management. India envisions the development of an ethos of Prevention, Mitigation, Preparedness and Response.

Job Description/Responsibilities

Landslide Management Professionals (Consultants, Senior Consultants, and Lead Consultants) will be engaged to support technical and strategic interventions in landslide-prone areas. They will work closely with geological institutions, local authorities, and disaster management departments to implement risk reduction measures, improve early warning systems, and guide planning processes.

• Consultants will assist in landslide risk assessments, field surveys, community awareness, and technical documentation.
• Senior Consultants will lead hazard mapping, engineering assessments, mitigation planning, and stakeholder coordination.
• Lead Consultants will provide strategic leadership in regional or national landslide risk reduction programs, policy formulation, and capacity-building initiatives.

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

Education:

• Education: Master’s degree in Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Remote Sensing, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
• Certifications: Certifications in slope stability analysis, GIS, landslide risk modeling, or disaster risk assessment would be an added advantage.

Experiences:

Experience:

• Consultant: 3–7 years of experience in geological surveys, hazard mapping, engineering design, or community-based risk management.
• Senior Consultant: 8–12 years of experience in landslide mitigation planning, multistakeholder program management, or applied research.
• Lead Consultant: Over 12 years of experience in strategic planning, national-level landslide risk policy, and coordination with international technical agencies.
